Competitive Keyword Analysis
Designed for SEO professionals to compare page (and subsequent keyword) strategies between different domains efficiently, the Competitive Keyword Analysis tool isn't your typical SEO keyword gap tool. Users can upload client and competitor data in CSV format, with each file containing specific required ...
headings. The tool allows users to exclude keywords based on volume and brand-related terms. By adjusting the Minimum Search Volume (MSV) and brand exclusions, users can refine their datasets to focus on relevant keywords.
The process is straightforward: download data from SEMRush, upload it via a simple drag-and-drop interface, adjust filters, and submit for analysis.
Tool Inputs:
- Client Data (CSV): Upload CSV file with data specific to the client's domain.
- Competitive Data (CSV): Upload CSV file with competitor's domain data.
- Volume Exclusion: Set a minimum search volume to filter out less significant keywords.
- Brand Variants: Exclude keywords that include specific brand-related terms.
Instructions:
Please review the 'Instructions' tab on this page to receive detailed instructions on how to use this tool.
1. Download client and competitive data from SEMRush.
- Navigate to https://www.semrush.com/analytics/organic/positions/.
- Individually input and download each of the desired domains into the search bar within SEMRush.
- Click the 'Export' CTA on the bottom righthand side of the 'Organic Keywords Trend' and download as CSV files.
2. Input downloaded data into their respective Dropzone's within the interface.
- Either click on the dropzone or drag and drop files onto the dropzone.
- Double check to ensure all the files have the .csv extension when adding!
3. Update the MSV and Brand exclusion inputs.
- MSV input will exclude all data less than this value. E.g., if you add 100, no keywords with less than 100 volume will be in output dataset.
- Brand input will exclude all keywords that contain the word / phrase. E.g., '3q' would eliminate '3q / 3qdigital / 3q digital / etc...'
